5 LESSONS I LEARNED FROM 2011:

1. “Sticking with your family is what makes it a family,” as Mitch Albom quoted in his book, For One More Day.

Relationships are what life is all about. They should be our TOP ONE priority list. Relationships are best demonstrated by love. And love is best expressed through time. The more time we spend with someone, the more we reveal his/her importance or value to us. Time is the greatest gift we can give to people because we are giving them a portion in our lives that we can never get back.

2. The right thing at the wrong time is STILL the wrong thing. Just because something is good doesn’t mean we should pursue it RIGHT NOW. In this season of learning, getting into a romantic relationship isn’t a necessity. Graduating on time is. In fact, things shouldn’t be rushed. Every season in our lives has its own breakthrough, focus, and purpose. Every season must be treasured.

3. Living a stagnant life will never be easy. We should live our lives the other way around. Getting our dusty skeletons inside our own cabinets are the solutions. Our abilities, knowledge, skills, and talents were entrusted to us so we could show them to the world and bring back all the glory to God.

4. The most important things in life are NOT things. A bit cliche but, yeah it’s true that money cannot buy real happiness. Temporary ones, maybe. Never turn down good invites when it comes to spending money to be with people.

5. God will forever be the author of my life. Even though we have our own plans, God always, always brings us to situations, even to the most heartbreaking ones, just to lead us to HIS OWN, PERFECT PLANS.

I now kiss the heartaches, pain, and regrets from 2011 goodbye and move forward with a faithful heart.
